Remodelling work along Avenida del Mar that began in December is about to finish

Avenida del Mar in La Zenia, Orihuela Costa will reopen this weekend (January 18th-19th), when remodelling work that affected the road will have finished. The work, which started in December, is all done apart from installing the street furniture.

The project, carried out by the Town Hall’s Department for the Coast, Beaches and International Residents with a budget of 175,000 euros, included widening the pavements, and installing new street lighting and furniture. The palm trees that were along this road have been moved top other green areas in Orihuela Costa and the bollards that marked the pedestrian crossings have been installed at two trial roundabouts and a pedestrian crossing on Calle Ciprés, by the new library.

It is in addition to other activities that the department has done recently, such as installing disabled access on the streets linking La Regia with the beach, and fixing the kerbs that had been broken by the roots of the trees pushing through. Another significant investment is the construction of a pedestrian crossing over the N-332 at La Regia, which is currently underway.
