Torrevieja local police have seized over 10,000 items worth over 60,000 euros
All the counterfeit merchandise that Torrevieja Local Police have confiscated from unauthorised street vendors this summer was destroyed on Friday morning (July 19) at the local ‘Ecoparque’ recycling depot.
The town hall informed that there were a total of 10,291 items including 2,730 CDs and DVDs; 2,147 pairs of sunglasses; 1,884 garments; 1,093 wallets; 842 watches; 826 bags; 429 hats; 190 belts and 150 watches.
Mayor Eduardo Dolón informed that the estimated market value of the goods could be over 63,000 euros.
He highlighted the excellent work of the Local Police and Guardia Civil to eradicate illegal street vending. He also noted that Torrevieja businesspeople have told him they are happy with the increased police presence on the seafront promenade and that keeping the ‘looky-looky’ traders away is resulting in increased sales for shops in the town.
